Rosenthal, R. & Jacobsen, L., (1968)

The idea was based around classroom experiments where Rosenthal & Jacobsen aimed to prove that a teacher's belief in a student's ability could positively affect their achievements. The original paper is called  'Pygmalion in the Classroom' (1968) and several additional papers have been written about the subject.  The links below will give you a useful snapshot of this theory to boost student engagement and progress in your lessons.
